POLICY ON OPEN
BURNING IN THE TOWN OF ANGELICA
- Under Wisconsin law, it is
illegal to burn wet combustible rubbish, garbage, oily substances,
asphalt, plastic, tires, rubber or treated or painted wood. It is also illegal to burn paper and
cardboard that have been separated for recycling.
- It is legal to burn dry grass,
leaves, brush and non-recyclable paper and cardboard products and clean,
untreated wood on the property on which they are generated.
- Burning Permits are not issued in
the Town of Angelica.
- If a town resident wishes to burn
allowable materials on his own property he must keep in mind that:
a. The town has an ordinance that states
the Town of Angelica shall charge the property owner or resident, and the
property owner or resident shall pay the Town, the actual cost incurred by the
Town for fire protection and/or alarm responses.
b. Passer bys with cell phones could call
the fire department when they see smoke or fire.
IF YOU PLAN ON
BURNING PERMITTED MATERIAL THE PROPERTY OWNER SHALL:
- In
the case of large amounts to be burned, notify the Pulaski Tri-County Fire
Department at 920-822-5392 or 920-676-0317 and the Shawano County Sheriff Department
at 715-526-3111 (non-emergency
24-hour phone number) to inform
them of the planned burning.
- Burning is to be done only during
daylight hours. Burn when winds are
gentle and burn late in the day when the temperature is lower and humidity
is higher.
- Have fire-fighting tools on the
site before you start the fire.
- An adequate firebreak must be around
the material to be burned.
- The fire must be totally
extinguished before you leave the burning site.

BURNING PROBLEMS IN THE TOWN OF ANGELICA:
- First of all call the Shawano County
Sheriff’s Department to report the problem….the 24-hour non-emergency
number is: 715-526-3111
- Then the Fire Warden can be called ~ Mark
Chrausnagel at 715-526-4228. If he
is in the area he will investigate the problem.
