Informational Meeting for Property Owners on Beech Drive

and Clerk Janet Powers

Property Owners on Beech Drive: Luther & Beverly Hoffmann, Aaron Beilfuss, Elmer Naumann, Matthew Pleshek, Jacob Hashbarger, Gene Beyersdorf and Patti Herrmann

This meeting of property owners/residents on Beech Drive was called to have discussion and receive information in regard to planned reconstruction of Beech Drive from its intersection with County Road C west to its intersection with County Road F. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Richard Smith at 7:35 p.m. (Supervisor Powers and Clerk Powers arrived at 7:45 p.m.)

Some of the concerns raised by those present and response to those concerns were:

• necessity of widening the road from a three-rod road to a four-rod road and if the town would reimburse property owners for the additional land needed ~~ Chairman Smith replied that the town would not be paying for additional land and the road needs to be a four-rod road in order to accommodate a 20-ft. paved area, 5-ft shoulder and a ditch grade of either 4 to 1 or 3 to 1.
• taking of trees ~~ the town would pay $50.00 per tree
• moving of fences ~~ the property owner is to take the fence down and keep track of costs in moving the fence back and turn bill in to the town for payment
• cutting down of two hills on the road ~~ the town would be talking to contractors and obtain cost estimates involved in doing this before making a decision
• replacement of culverts ~~ answer was that if culverts are fairly new and in good condition they would be reinstalled and other culverts would be replaced with new culverts with at least the same width as the old culvert was.
• mailboxes ~~ answer was that the contractors would be taking down but would put them up again for the next day’s mail delivery
• grass up to the paved area ~~ the five-foot shoulder would be in stone but dirt and grass seed would be provided beyond that if it was in grass prior to reconstruction
• if road would be left in gravel this year ~~ if money is available the first coat of blacktop will be applied this year and if money is not available the old blacktop will remain over winter and in the following year it would be reclaimed and blacktop would be applied right after reclaiming of the old blacktop

Some specific concerns of property owners were:

· Jacob Hasbarger ~~ maple trees in the new road right of way and culverts in front of his property

· Gene Beyersdorf ~~ the public road between his two properties and the possibility of blacktopping it when Beech Drive is blacktopped, the road culvert in front of his property and if his present garden would be in the town road right of way after it is widened

· Aaron Beilfuss ~~ cedar trees in the road right of way

· Luther Hoffman ~~ telephone poles, hill in front of their property and town blacktopping approach to his driveway

· Patti Herrmann ~~ hill in front of their property

Chairman Smith also informed those present that if they were aware of survey stakes for their properties that they have them moved back 33 feet from the center of the road and have them marked.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
