Monthly Meeting

February 12, 2007

 

 

Town Officials Present: Supervisors, Clifford Powers and Wilbert Lewis, Treasurer Lisa Mauszak

 and Clerk, Janet Powers

Town Officials Absent:  Chairman, Richard Smith

Others Present:               Greg Van Asten, Ronald Banaszynski and Elmer Kraning,

 

Call to Order/Roll Call/Verification of Meeting Notice:  MOTION (Lewis/Powers/PASSED) that Supervisor Powers act as Chairman of the meeting in the absence of Chairman Smith.  Powers called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.  Roll call showed all officials were present with the exception of Chairman Smith.  It was verified with Clerk Powers that proper posting of the meeting had been done.  The agenda was posted on the morning of February 10, 2007 and also faxed to the Shawano Leader on February 9th.

 

Approval or  Modification of Agenda:   MOTION (Powers/Lewis/PASSED) to approve the agenda as posted.

 

Approval of Prior Town Board Minutes:  MOTION (Lewis/Powers/PASSED) to approve the minutes of the regular town board meeting of January 8, 2007 and the Special Town Board Meeting of January 26, 2007.  

 

Approval of Treasurer’s Monthly Report:  The Treasurer’s report was presented to the board by Treasurer Matuszak showing balances as of January 31, 2007 of  $11,092.10 at the Citizens Bank in Pulaski and $704,874.45 at the Premier Bank in Pulaski.  MOTION (Lewis/Powers/PASSED) to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented.

 

Correspondence:  Correspondence reviewed was (1) notification from the Shawano Leader of new rates for legals and ads effective February 1, 2007 (2) Krakow Sanitary District January Newsletter (3) notification of relinquishments from Farmland Preservation of one property in the town (4) e-mail from the EPA regarding assistance they can provide in preparing the Smart Growth Plan (5) notices of meetings of the Shawano County PD&Z and Land Conservation committees and the Board of Adjustment and (6) copy of one land-use permit issued for property in the town within the past month.

 

Reports from Town Officers:  Supervisor Lewis reported he had issued a driveway/culvert permit for a driveway for a new home to Donald and Rita Skalecki on Town Hall Drive.  Supervisor Powers reported he did not have to call the County for sanding or plowing since Chairman Smith had left and that a County Committee of eleven people from thoughout the county had been picked to work on the Smart Growth plan and there was discussion on whether or not they should be paid for attendance at meetings.  Clerk Powers showed those present the ballot for Town Supervisors for the February 20th primary election and informed them that the public test for the voting machine is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16th.  Clerk Powers also stated that arrangements are being made to have EZWebTech (Brooks Development Group) host the town’s website as Shawano County will no longer be able to host the website.  Treasurer Matuszak reported that the CD for renovation and remodeling of the town hall had been renewed on January 22nd for six months at an interest rate of 5.25%.

 

Report  from Town Planning Committee Chairman:  Inasmuch as the Town of Angelica Planning Committee did not have a meeting in February, Chairman Richard Ferfecki was not present

 

Public Comments:  The meeting was opened up to public comments.  Elmer Kraning had a question as to why nothing was in the paper regarding the upcoming primary for town board supervisor.  Clerk Powers explained that the Shawano Leader had contacted her before the deadline to turn in nomination papers and at that time it was not certain if a primary would be necessary.  The Leader did not call back after the deadline as they were asked to.  Greg Van Asten had a question as to what material was being used to salt/sand in Krakow as it is a problem with it being brought into the church when people were coming in from the street.

 

Specific Matters for Discussion and Possible Action by Town Board in Open Session:  There was no new business on the agenda for discussion and possible action by the board.

 

Specific Town Board Notice and Agenda for Upcoming Town Board Meeting:  The next town board meeting will be held on March 12, 2007, the second Monday of the month.   It was noted that the town board would be attending the WTA District meeting on February 22nd and the February 28th seminar being conducted by Northeast Asphalt.

 

Voucher Listing/Payment of Bills:     MOTION (Lewis/Powers/PASSED) to approve payment of vouchers V-3526 through V-3580.

 

Adjournment:  MOTION (Lewis/Powers/PASSED) to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
