Budget Hearing for Proposed 2008 Town of Angelica Budget

Town Officials Present: Chairman Richard Smith, Supervisors Cliff Powers and Wilbert Lewis, Treasurer Lisa Matuszak and Clerk Janet Powers

The Budget Hearing was opened at 10:00 a.m. by Town Chairman, Richard Smith. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The town clerk verified that proper posting was done by posting the Budget Summary and Notice of Public Budget Hearing on October 26, 2007 at the two post offices and the town hall with a notice of the hearing also appearing in the Pulaski News on November 8, 2007. A copy of the proposed 2008 budget was given to all those in attendance.
The Chairman opened the hearing to questions from those present.
The proposed tax levy of $353,415.00 for 2007 taxes was arrived at by using a mil rate of $4.02519114 per thousand. The Aggregate Assessed Valuation is set at $87,800,800.00. The proposed tax levy of $353,415.00 is 3.86 per cent over the actual tax levy for 2006 taxes, which amount is within the State of Wisconsin tax levy limit.
The Chairman closed the budget hearing at 10:35 a.m.

Special Town Meeting – November 10, 2007
Those attending were the same 6 people who attended the Town Budget Hearing prior to this special meeting.
The special town meeting was brought to order at 10:35 a.m. Chairman Smith verified with Clerk Powers that the meeting had been posted fifteen days prior at the town hall and post offices in Krakow and Zachow.
(1) MOTION Elmer Kraning/Janet Powers/PASSED UNANIMOUSLY BY VOICE VOTE) that highway expenditures of $321,818.00 be approved for 2008.
(2) MOTION (Richard Smith/Wilbert Lewis/PASSED UNANIMOUSLY BY VOICE VOTE) that the Town Tax Levy for 2007 taxes (to be paid in 2008) be $353,415.00 resulting in a mil rate of $4.02519114 per thousand of aggregate assessed valuation.
(3) MOTION (Cliff Powers/Wilbert Lewis/PASSED UNANIMOUSLY BY VOICE VOTE) that there be a transfer of the 2007 contingency fund in the amount of $5,000.00 to the highway expenditures budget account for 2007.
(4) MOTION (Wilbert Lewis/Cliff Powers/PASSED) to close the special town meeting. The meeting was closed at 10:45 a.m.
