Budget Hearing for Proposed 2009 Town of Angelica Budget

Town Officials Present: Chairman Richard Smith, Supervisors Cliff Powers and Wilbert Lewis, and Clerk Janet Powers
Absent: Treasurer Lisa Matuszak

The Budget Hearing was opened at 6:35 p.m. by Town Chairman, Richard Smith. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The town clerk verified that proper posting was done by posting the Budget Summary and Notice of Public Budget Hearing on November 4, 2008 at the two post offices and the town hall. A copy of the proposed 2009 budget was given to all those in attendance.
The Chairman opened the hearing to questions from those present.
The proposed tax levy of $360,417 for 2008 taxes was arrived at by using a mil rate of $3.01465687 per thousand. The Aggregate Assessed Valuation is set at $119,554,900.00. The proposed tax levy of $360,417.00 is 2.00 per cent over the actual tax levy for 2007 taxes, which amount is within the State of Wisconsin tax levy limit.
The Chairman closed the budget hearing at 6:45 p.m.

Meeting – November 20, 2008
Those attending were the same four people who attended the Town Budget Hearing prior to this special meeting.
The special town meeting was brought to order at 6:50 p.m. Chairman Smith verified with Clerk Powers that the meeting had been posted fifteen days prior at the town hall and post offices in Krakow and Zachow. Notice of the Special Town Meeting was also posted on the town’s website.
(1) MOTION Clifford Powers/Wilbert Lewis/PASSED UNANIMOUSLY BY VOICE VOTE) that highway expenditures of $447,424.00 be approved for 2009.
(2) MOTION (Wilbert Lewis/Janet Powers/PASSED UNANIMOUSLY BY VOICE VOTE) that the Town Tax Levy for 2008 taxes (to be paid in 2009) be $360,417.00 resulting in a mil rate of $3.01465687 per thousand of aggregate assessed valuation.
(3) MOTION (Wilbert Lewis/Cliff Powers/PASSED) to close the special town meeting. The meeting
was closed at 7:15 p.m.
