Informational Meeting for Property Owners on Green Valley Road

Property Owners on Green Valley Road: Nancy Cormier and Eugene Lilla

This meeting with property owners/residents on Green Valley was called to have discussion and receive information in regard to planned reconstruction of Green Valley Road from its intersection with Cuba Drive approximately one mile to the south. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Richard Smith at 6:30 p.m.

Chairman Smith brought the following to the attention of those present:

• the road will be widened to a 4 rod road – can measure 33 feet from the center of the present road to determine the new road right of way. There will be a paved 20’ top with 2’ to 3’ shoulders.
• if the property owner knows where survey stakes are, move them back to at least 33 feet from the centerline of the present road and mark them
• there will be a sloping of the ditch of 3 to 1 or less
• new culverts will be provided when replacing existing culverts for driveways
• if a driveway is presently blacktopped, the town will blacktop the portion of the driveway that is in the new road right of way and it will be blended in to the existing blacktopped driveway.
• the contractor will move the mail boxes and they will be accessible for delivery of mail
• the property owner is to take care of moving any fences and the town will reimburse for the cost and the town will pay $50.00 per tree if a tree has to be removed because of the reconstruction
• if money is available the binder or first coat of blacktop will be laid this year
• there is the possibility that the project cannot be started this year and would have to be delayed until next year if weather does not permit the start of the project in August.

Chairman Smith also emphasized the importance of marking any survey stakes, informing him of any field tiling entering or being in the road ditch, and contacting him about any concerns while the reconstruction work is being done and not waiting until the work is finished.776

Some of the questions/concerns raised by those present were:

· Lilla had a concern about the size of culverts being used and said there are presently 24” culverts in front of his property.

· Cormier asked if the hill near their property would remain and if they would be able to get in and out from their home during reconstruction work. Chairman Smith stated they would be able to get in and out at all times but the road could be closed for a short period of time in the area where muck has to be removed from the roadbed.

The informational meeting was closed at 7:05 p.m.
